About Amie

Getting Started

Amie’s love for horses began in the summer of 2003 at her first summer horse camp with a horse named Doc. The following summer of 2004 she did the same camp again but this time with a pony named Tiffany it was this camp that solidified her love and joy for the horses, and this time around there was an open spot in the lesson program. The first 3 years of her riding career were in the hunter/jumpers. Riding lesson ponies and horses, taking once-a-week lessons, and going to small C-rated shows at the local equestrian center.

It was at age 12 when her parents bought her her first horse named Rebel Graffiti, a 2.5-year-old American Paint Horse. This horse would change her training for the rest of her life. Since Rebel was so young and lacked training they found a local dressage trainer who was great with young and green horses. This sparked Amie’s love for dressage and she has never waivered from this love for dressage, except to sprinkle in jumping/eventing training for a few years as a teenager.

As early as 12 Amie would spend whole days at the barn following her trainer around. Listening in on lessons, watching lessons, watching her trainers ride, helping to tack and un-tack, barn chores, etc.. Amie wanted to be involved in all aspects of the horses, not just saddle time.

Junior/Young Rider

During her Junior/YR career, she is most known for her success and training of her long-time equine partner DM Horatio (Shrimp). After Rebel suffered a devastating pasture accident in January of 2010 that resulted in his passing, Amie found herself without a horse. A family horse had been purchased (Shoalih’s Tale) but they didn’t prove to be the best fit at the time. This leads her mom on a search for a horse to fill the void. That is where Shrimp came into the picture at 3.5 years old he was a broke to ride American Morgan Horse. From 2010-2021 Amie spent her time training and developing Shrimp mostly on her own in the early years and with help from talented trainers along the way. She also went on to work with the family horse more but found that she always struggled with Cash’s opinionated Storm Cat personality, later on after he had passed she would realize the valuable lessons he taught her.
